The light will soon switch on in Manono – Congo ! Enerdeal & Forrest teaming up

Latest news on our major project under construction in Manono (province of Katanga, north of Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo): 3200 solar panels for a total of 1MWp backed by 3MWh of batteries to electrify the city completely offgrid now.

A few months after contract signature, all solar panels have already arrived on site. Given extremely critical road conditions (which would have generated lots of micro-cracks in the solar cells), they have been shipped by boat to Dar Es Salam, then loaded on a train for a 2000 km trip then … loaded in a cargo plane to their final destination.

Key components (containers with 3MWh batteries, inverters and all energy management systems) have been fully and successfully tested some weeks ago in Europe and are now being shipped by sea freight.

Erection of the whole plant is expected in the coming weeks with grid connexion planned in early 2017.

A great technical and logistical achievement together with our partner Group Forrest International which takes care of the local grid development. The light will soon switch on in Manono!
