Enerdeal, a leading renewable energy solutions provider with operations throughout Luxembourg and Belgium that joined the EDP group in 2023, a European leader in decentralized solar generation, has signed a 20-year agreement with industrial group Husky Technologies in which Enerdeal will finance, install, and operate a 2MWp solar carport at Husky’s facilities in Dudelange, in Luxembourg.
The solar carport is a structure that harness covered parking slots available space to install with solar panels on its roof, allowing for the generation of clean energy. In the case of Husky, more than 4.000 panels installed will enable the company to self-consume entirely from the clean electricity generated, directly supporting its sustainability goals. With a capacity of 2 MWp, this project is expected to be operational by the end of 2025 and represents an important step in Husky Technologies' ongoing development of science-based approaches to carbon reduction.
This initiative is expected to deliver significant financial savings on electricity costs while meeting the increasing demand from Husky’s clients and shareholders for green energy solutions. Additionally, the project aligns with growing regulatory requirements for sustainable energy use in industrial operations. Overall, this initiative is projected to save approximately 926 tons of CO2 emissions annually, or the equivalent of the consumption of more than 500 households.
Under this agreement, Enerdeal will fully finance the project, operating it under a long-term “As-a-Service” model, which covers the investment, operation, and maintenance of the solar installation throughout the contract period. During this time, the benefits of the projects are shared between Enerdeal and Husky. This solution will allow the client to reduce costs and limit their environmental impact by reducing dependence on conventional energy sources.
"The solar as-a-service financing model allows our clients to rapidly deploy renewable energy solutions, addressing both cost efficiency and sustainability objectives. We are proud to collaborate with Husky Technologies on this initiative, reinforcing their commitment to a more sustainable future," said François Neu, Enerdeal Country Manager.
"At Husky, sustainability is a core part of our business strategy and integrating renewable energy solutions is a key step towards reducing our carbon footprint. This solar carport project aligns with our long-term vision for environmental responsibility and energy efficiency," said Brad Selleck
By generating significant renewable energy and avoiding substantial CO2 emissions annually, this project exemplifies Husky's commitment to environmental leadership through innovation. As Husky continues modernizing its carbon neutrality targets, this solar carport project demonstrates how the company is actively implementing renewable energy solutions to support their sustainability goals.
Enerdeal has already installed almost 300 MWp of industrial solar power in Luxembourg and Belgium.
