In response to the challenges of climate change and rising energy costs, Enerdeal has updated its infrastructure to align with its sustainability goals. This infrastructure also supports a new company car policy focused on electric vehicles. This case study provides an in-depth look at the project, highlighting its contributions to corporate sustainability, environmental conservation, and economic efficiency.
Our Zaventem-based headquarters is equipped with 300 solar panels, generating approximately 110 kWc of solar capacity. This translates to an annual production of about 95 MWh of electricity, enough to power 12 households for a year or fuel up to 450,000 km of electric vehicle travel.
Complementing the solar panels is a 130 kWh battery that stores excess energy. Managed by artificial intelligence, this system ensures optimal energy utilization and allows us to avoid the cost of reinforcing the grid connection.
The facility features 12 electric vehicle charging stations, each with a capacity of 22 kW. An accompanying mobile app allows employees to choose their charging profiles based on their needs, enhancing user comfort and encouraging system adoption.
The project is not just sustainable but also economically sound. With an investment of around €250,000, the infrastructure pays for itself in just 3.6 years, saving nearly €70,000 annually. This is achieved by replacing 40,000 liters of gasoline with 100% green and free "fuel."
Enerdeal, in partnership with Phoenix Contact, has fully embraced a 100% electric vehicle policy for its fleet, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Our ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications further attest to our dedication to quality management and environmental responsibility.
The charging stations are not just for employees; they are also accessible to the public. Due to the growing interest, we have implemented a pricing strategy to prioritize employee usage during business hours.
Our project won the Green Solutions Award 2023 in the Infrastructure category, underscoring its replicability and impact. Watch the video feature on RTL info.
Enerdeal's sustainable infrastructure serves as a compelling example that companies can be environmentally responsible while also being economically viable. We aim to inspire other organizations to take similar steps, proving that sustainability is not just a buzzword but a business model for the future
